Birtinya Island is the latest island community on the Sunshine Coast. Queensland Transport is investing in excess of $1 billion for the Caboolture to Maroochydore rail link between Beerwah and Maroochydore over the next 5 to 15 years. Detailed planning is currently underway for the Creekside Interchange and a temporary connection to theTown Centre.

The Department of Main Roads is investing over $1.5 billion in road infrastructure to service the Oceanside Precinct.
