It was an exciting morning on the Sunshine Coast yesterday, with the Queensland Premier, Sunshine Coast Mayor, Olympian Leisel Jones and the Chair of the 2032 Olympic committee all presenting to the business community about the local opportunities arising from the 2032 Games.

More than $16 billion of infrastructure investment has either been approved or is already underway in our region to prepare. With 80 percent of the Olympic infrastructure already in place, the Sunshine Coast is getting the most investment spend per capita than anywhere else in South East Queensland!

While all of this development, and then the game visitation in 2032, will both be major boosts for the region, we won’t notice the real impact until after the games have happened. Why? Because the Olympics and Paralympics provides a huge platform that will expose what is on offer here to people living in every…single…country. It is likely we will see a major influx in tourism, relocation and investment post games!

We have spoken extensively about the unique set of factors that are contributing to the rapid growth of our region and the aggregate effect that opportunities like the Olympics present. The lifestyle and economy are booming here and everyday we are seeing further investment and innovation happening along the coastline and in our hinterland. It does not matter how good any other argument for investment is…nothing compares to the growth profile of the Sunshine Coast.

On top of all this, right now we are experiencing the greatest under-supply of housing. The rental crisis right now means strong yields for years to come due to the high competition in the market. With a once in history set of circumstances driving the economy, demand rapidly expanding with a significant demographic change afoot and massive limitations to supply, it is reasonable to conclude the conditions for capital and rental price growth on the Sunshine Coast will prevail for an extended period of time.

As an investor, now is the time to act. Not only will you be helping solve the rental crisis, you will reap the rewards ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic games and beyond.
